John Furner has been appointed as the new CEO of Walmart U.S. While the move was unexpected, I welcome the change. Furner is a 25-year veteran who has an excellent 25-year track record. He became CEO of Sam’s Club in 2017 and has done a fantastic job of regaining sales and earnings momentum for that division. He replaces Greg Foran, who has led the U.S. division for five years, and has been appointed CEO of Air New Zealand.
