CBS Cares Celebrates Women in STEM

March is Women’s History Month, and #SeeHer is all in on this global effort to celebrate the accomplishments of women. As part of our ongoing partnership with CBS, a special prime-time CBS Cares PSA campaign honoring the contributions of 12 amazing women activists and pioneers in STEM disciplines—science, technology, engineering, and math—will run throughout the month. The campaign consists of five 25-second spots with CBS stars Maria Bello (NCIS); Téa Leoni and Sara Ramirez (Madam Secretary); Aisha Tyler (Criminal Minds); and Julie Chen, Eve, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, and Sheryl Underwood (The Talk).

The PSAs will run on the CBS Television Network, be featured on the CBS Cares website, and shared on social media. The women in the spotlight of this effort are prime examples of what it means to challenge and overcome stereotypes and biases in their industries—and of what it means to succeed. Women to be honored in the 2018 Women’s History Month CBS Cares PSA campaign include:

Erica Baker, Engineer
Aisha Bowe, Aerospace Engineer
Rumman Chowdhury, PhD, Data Scientist
Patricia D’Amore, PhD, Research Scientist
Knatokie Ford, PhD, Biomedical Scientist
Olivia Hallisey, Inventor
Jo Handelsman, PhD, Molecular Biologist
Grace Hopper, Computer Scientist
Rosalyn LaPier, Ethnobotanist
Amy Orsborn, Bioengineer
Pardis Sabeti, PhD, Computational Geneticist
Diana Trujillo, NASA Engineer

Many of our members are hosting their own celebrations of the month.  On March 1, #SeeHer member Procter & Gamble hosted a #WeSeeEqual Forum, which kicks off the monthlong celebration of women’s accomplishments and commemorates International Women’s Day 2018 (March 8) with an exploration into the very freshest thinking on how we can create a gender-equal world. #SeeHer board member Katie Couric is the keynote speaker at the event.

AT&T is hosting an internal event on March 9 with a #SeeHer video and signage stating they are a proud supporter of #SeeHer.

Hope you are celebrating this month with your colleagues.  Please share your plans, and we will post either on the blog or on the site.
